In 2008, he completed a summer internship with Apexus, the federal government’s 340B Prime Vendor Program. Nguyen also completed rotations last fall with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Office of Pharmacy Affairs within the Health Resources Services Administration.

In his role with NASPA, Nguyen will focus on enhancing the value of NASPA to its members and learning about association management. Project areas will include assisting NASPA members with their focused activities around the implementation plan for the Joint Commission of Pharmacy Practitioners 2015 Vision for the practice of pharmacy, the value of the pharmacists assuring optimal medication therapy outcomes, adherence, PQA quality measures, patient safety, and enhancing and streamlining communication for NASPA.

“I hope to obtain an executive resident position that will enable me to be part of the next generation of pharmacy professionals that will continue to implement real change to our health care system and improve upon the foundation that the leaders of yesterday help put in place,” Nguyen said. “I will gain invaluable experience in the area of quality assurance, medication safety, regulation of medications, and work with associations on a state and national level.”
