The University of the Incarnate Word will hold its fifth annual UIW Research Week Feb. 27-March 2, said Dr. Kevin Vichales, dean of the School of Graduate Studies and Research.
Faculty and students will present poster abstracts describing research projects.
The special event is made possible by UIW’s Extramural Associates Research Development Award funded by the National Institutes of Health and the UIW grad school’s Office of Research Development.
“The celebration of faculty/student scholarship and research will span the last week in February 2012 to allow a longer period of campus participation and poster viewing,” Vichales said.
Posters will be displayed in Marian Hall from noon to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27; 8 a.m.-noon and 1-7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28; 8 a.m.-noon and 2-5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29; 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday, March 1; and 8 a.m.-noon Friday, March 2.
Special events include a faculty panel discussion on scholarship (with a light lunch) from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, in Marian Hall; a formal poster session with presenters from 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29, in Marian Hall; a graduate student session with pizza from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29, in Marian Hall; and a “Thursday Night Live” program featuring the fine arts with a reception from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 1, in Semmes Fine Art Gallery and Palestrina Hall, both in the Genevieve Tarleton Dougherty Fine Arts Building.
